Women's Groups
Ladies Aid - On
Thursday, November 11, 1909, a group of ladies met together and called
themselves the Ladies Aid Society of Ustick. The fee for
membership was 25 cents and after that 5 cents for each meeting and
another 25 cents at the beginning of each half year. The
ladies
met in various homes until March 27, 1919 when they started to meet in
the church basement or parsonage. The first gift the ladies
gave
to the church was a communion set purchased in 1910. They have
always given money towards missions. The Ladies
Aid is still an active part of Spring Valley. The
purpose of Ladies Aid is to make Christ known, to deepen the spiritual
life of each member, and to develop a sense of personal responsibility
for the whole mission of the church through a program of Bible Study,
prayer, education, giving, and service. Ladies Aid meets on the
second Thursday of every month.
Ladies of
Faith - This
group of women of all ages meets several times throughout the year to
serve the church and have fun. Ladies Night Out is a
favorite
and has included painting pottery, watching "Chick Flicks" or going to
dinner. Ladies of Faith is responsible for many service
projects
within the church, such as the annual church cleaning, decorating for
Christmas and Spring Valley's annual Memorial Day Gathering.
The
ladies also enjoy attending a women's conference or retreat together
each year.
